In just a short time, mobile phones have gone from simple to simply amazing. The cell was born in the 1980's but the smartphone was born in 2007 by Apple Inc. with the iPhone.


Advantages of smartphones include:

1. Smartphones have the ability to keep you organized with personal calendars, electronic diaries, contact lists, and automatic reminders
2. Gives users the ability to work on the go with applications to take notes, view and edit documents, and view presentations without needing a laptop
3. Gives users accessibility at all times with the ability to be on the Internet from anywhere at anytime
4. access to any email accounts, like Outlook or Gmail, social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, and navigation systems such as Yahoo Maps
5. 4G and 3G capabilities.

Disadvantages of smartphones include:

1. Costly for even just the phone
2. For internet access there is a monthly fee on top of talk and texting fees
3. Smartphones and Wi-Fi radiation studies have linked radio frequency with a range of health issue varying from headaches and nausea to issues are serious as tumors
4. The increasing density of Wi-Fi access points means that it is basically impossible to avoid exposure to the frequencies in cell phones that causes these health issues (#1-4, Smartphones with Wi-Fi - pros and cons).  
5. “because downloading and installing smart-phone and tablet software are as simple as pressing a button, it has become amazingly easy for mobile device users to inadvertently add unsecure apps to their devices”(Edwards, J).
